[Beverly Healthcare] Valhaven Director Matt Romshek had special guests at the nursing center on May 16. Senator Chris Langemeier, who represents District 23 in Nebraska, Valley City Clerk Joan Suhr and Twin Rivers YMCA Executive Director Bob Koley came to take a tour of the facility, which is in the process of undergoing renovations.
Wardrobes in the residents' rooms are being replaced, walls have been painted and other remodeling is being done gradually. New electric beds are next on the list, with more updates to come.
Romshek also presented Koley with a check from Beverly Healthcare, which manages the nursing center. It will cover the cost of two one-year family memberships at the Valley Twin Rivers YMCA.
"We see ourselves as a family relationship," Romshek said of Beverly and Valhaven. "We're trying to build relationship between families."
Koley thanked Romshek and Beverly for the contribution to the 2005 fund-raising campaign, which benefits families that would not be able to afford to participate in YMCA programs. The Twin Rivers' goal this year was $35,000, and they reached well beyond that to $49,000.
“The benefits for the family are providing structured activities, having support from other communities and protecting children from high-risk situations,” Koley said. “Exceeding our goal really says something about the community.”
Beverly Healthcare provides funds for various projects that will help give back to the community.
